Annemiek (1959) began her studio for stained glass in Denekamp in 1979. She studied stained glass making and staining in Germany, where she also learned about chemical and traditional handicrafts. In the early 1980’s, Annemiek attended a five-year follow-up study programme at the AKI art academy of Enschede alongside her work in the glass studio, in order to better master her sense of color and lines.
In 1994, she settled permanently in Ootmarsum (NL), where her studio and gallery are located in a former children’s home on Kloosterstraat. Here she developed and refined her characteristic use of color and found the space and peace and quiet to express her fascination with color, shape, technique and feeling. Her designs are both figurative and abstract, but always equally as captivating and timeless. In addition to stained glass in lead, Annemiek has also mastered the fusing technique, which entails melting glass together. Her skills are clearly evident in her multicoloured fusing pieces, both in the cutting of the glass and her sense of color and shape.
